Most health apps are quick to tell you what to do. Threshold isn't one of them — and that's a deliberate choice, not a missing feature.
Open almost any symptom app and something will soon suggest a supplement, a remedy, a thing to buy. It's well meant, and occasionally useful. But when it comes to menopause, an app confidently telling you what to take is stepping into a place it doesn't belong.
The trouble with an app that gives advice
Menopause care is personal in a way that resists one-size-fits-all answers. The same hot flush might call for very different things depending on your history, the medications you already take, your family background, and what matters to you. An app can't examine you, can't weigh your risks, and can't be held accountable when it's wrong. What it can do is sound sure of itself — and false certainty is the last thing you need during an already uncertain time.
The same symptom can have different answers for different women. Only a person who knows your history can help you find yours.
What Threshold does instead
Threshold helps you notice, and helps you remember. Daily notes gather how you've been feeling. Every so often it reflects your weeks back to you — patterns, not prescriptions, and always yours to question. Over time you build a clear record of what's actually been happening, in your own words.
That record is genuinely powerful. It means that when you do see someone, you arrive with the picture already in focus, rather than trying to reconstruct three foggy months in a ten-minute appointment.
Why we leave the advice to your practitioner
A GP or health practitioner can do the things an app never should: take a full history, examine you, weigh the options against your particular risks, prescribe, and follow up to see how it's going. Threshold's job isn't to replace that conversation — it's to make it better informed. We'd rather help you walk in prepared than send you off with a suggestion we're in no position to make.
It's a smaller way to be useful. But we think it's the honest one — and for something as personal as the change, honest is what matters.
Threshold is not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for a doctor or practitioner. It helps you notice and remember — the rest is a conversation for you and your GP or health practitioner.
Notice more. Carry less.
Threshold keeps a record for you, and hands you a clear summary when it's time to talk to someone who can help.
